Why refresh business portraits more often than every 10 years?
A lot can happen in 10 years. As we age, our faces change. Each year, through our portrait, we tell a slightly different story of our lives, including our professional ones. Some people realize this and are beginning to understand that business portraits need to be refreshed more often than once every 10 years. I especially recommend it to people who change jobs regularly and like new professional challenges.
The role of the business portrait is growing. The times when only employees of consulting companies and banks had it are long gone. Today, a good portrait significantly helps in the process of applying for a new position and in creating the first impression in communication with a potential client or business partner. However, it is difficult to force yourself to stand in front of a photographer’s lens regularly. Previous unfortunate experiences that left us with the belief that we look bad in the photo don’t help. In this article, I will convince you that it is worth trusting an experienced photographer and refreshing your business portrait more often than every 10 years.

Why is it important to have an up-to-date business portrait?
The answer is simple: it is an effective way to build your image. What’s more, it will help you create it from scratch! So if you don’t know where to start building your personal brand, a good and up-to-date business portrait will be the answer.
Why do you need a professional business photo? Because a photo like this:
- It will show who you are and distinguish you from others.
- It will help you build the authentic image you want.
- It will help build credibility in the eyes of the people you want to reach.
- It will prove that you are professional, precise and pay attention to every detail.
- It works for you 24 hours a day, whether you post it on LinkedIn or your CV, company website, blog or leaflet
And just to make you understand – everyone needs at least one good business photo. It doesn’t matter if you are a job applicant, a successful personal trainer, a stylist, a manager, a banker, a famous motivational speaker or any other type of specialist. A business portrait helps build your advantage and helps you make that famous “good first impression”.

A good business portrait must be effective while also showing you in a real, honest and favorable way. The key here is the word “real”, which can be understood as authentic, but also current. That’s why I encourage you to take business photos from time to time. The excuse may, of course, be a change of hairstyle, dressing style, industry and much more. However, these are not the only situations.

I encourage you to take business portraits regularly, but I updated mine only after over 10 years… I don’t want to be a hypocrite. It just turned out that in some situations I had to start wearing glasses. This is reason enough to create a new portrait for yourself. You can see how it turned out below. Do I still resemble myself?

Show your true face!
People judge others by their faces – it’s a fact that can be disputed, but there are studies that prove it. One of them showed that 0.1 second is enough to judge, based on a photo or looking at a person, whether he is competent, attractive and whether he arouses sympathy (more about the research in the entry: Are you looking for a job? Take care of a professional business portrait).
The human face changes over time – this is another fact. Its shape changes. Our experiences and lifestyle are reflected on our face. You can see when we are rested and when we are tired. What’s more, there are studies that show that our personality also changes over the years, which may be reflected in our facial expressions (this is, for example, believed by scientists from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and the University of Houston in the USA – if you are interested in this topic, then I refer to the Internet).
To sum up, the purpose of a portrait is to show your true face. It is therefore important that the image we use in business communication is up to date. The point is that the person who meets you in person has no doubts about who they are talking to.
Refresh your business portrait with me!
The key to a good business portrait is to conduct a photo session in appropriate conditions. I will guide you through the entire process, and most importantly – I will take care of your comfort, both during the first phase, when we are preparing for it, during the session, and at its end.
